Jefferson High School launches fencing team in San Antonio ISD
One of the world’s oldest sports is now offered at Jefferson High School, part of San Antonio ISD. The school’s fencing team launched this spring.
Sponsored by David Vela, an AP World History and International Baccalaureate Psychology teacher, the team has already proven competitive against the only two other public schools in Texas offering fencing.
Reflecting on their first season, students at the International Baccalaureate campus are making classroom connections with this ancient sport.
