Stay Safe: Generator Usage Tips for Residents

Staff Report / Daytonalocal.org

The City of Daytona Beach Government has issued important safety tips for residents planning to use generators during power outages. Following these precautions can help prevent serious health risks, such as carbon monoxide poisoning.

Key safety guidelines include:

- Never use a generator inside your home.

- Keep the generator outside, at least 20 feet away from the house.

- Use the generator on a dry surface, away from doors, windows, vents, and air conditioning units.

- If you feel sick, dizzy, or weak, get fresh air immediately.

These safety measures are vital, especially during storms. Residents are encouraged to be prepared and prioritize their safety when using generators.
